Long time we haven't been out. Alex Lau, who talk about "Java on Embedded Linux" on May and now work for Novell, will back to Hong Kong for while. He would like to have a LinuxCafe on OpenSuSE. We will have the LinuxCafe on this sunday (Dec 18th 2005) afternoon (2:00pm).All people are welcome to join us.

Introduction

In June 1998, China LUG told us that James Gary, the President of S.u.S.E. (A Major Distributor of Linux) U.S. Office plan to have a visit to China and will stay in Hong Kong for a few days. After some discussion with the members of HKLUG, we decide to hold a Presentation about Linux and invite James to have a talk on it in order to promote Linux in Hong Kong.

1998 年 6 月間，我們由中國 Linux 用戶協會得知S.u.S.E. (一主要Linux 分發商) 美國分公司的總栽 James Gary 正打算到中國一行並將在香港逗留幾天。經過 HKLUG 會員們一輪討論後，我們決定舉辨一有關 Linux 的發表會並邀請 James 到場講解 Linux 以圖推廣 Linux 在香港的應用。

在香港軟件業資訊中心 (SIIC) 的支助及各 HKLUG 會員的協助下，The Power of Linux 發表會成功在 1998 年 7 月 25 日 (星期六) 下午二時正於香港生產力促進局的演講廳舉行。發表會當日有近一百人出席，而相信這次也是香港首個大型有關 Linux 的活動。
