Debian GNU/Linux 完美中文桌面設定指南 ChineseInformationProcessing(Debian Wiki) ChineseInformationProcessing(所有中文字碼、輸入法) gcin 用了 SCIM 後發現 xcin 的介面輸太多了(SCIM 好漂亮). 只不過 SCIM 有很多東西還是用不習慣. 包括自動選字得要手動. Ctrl + Space 注音碼都還留在上面等問題. 還是先繼續用 xcin 好了... 找了一些東西.....

請問，如果我將locale設置為enUS.utf8可以嗎？ 應為如果我設定locale為zhCN，就會出現KDE下面konsole英文字體顯示很難看的問題。

如何能讓英文字體顯示為fixed，同時又支援漢字呢？

not much idea on KDE. I still waiting somebody can fill the KDE gap of that article in OSWikiHK.

My last test on KDE only confirm that the chinese is work but didn't deal with the fonts. Basically, the font selecting should control by fontconfig in both KDE and Gnome. Therefore, you should got a better font if you set up fontconfig correctly. You can read the article of http://211.100.7.181/~liling/debian-pretty.html, I think you are from mainland. Or ask in debian-chinese-gb maillist. (seems LinuxSir.org is down recently)

Thank you for your reply and this great tutorial. Right guess I am from mainland and I now implemented successfully Chinese support under KDE.

Hope more of this kind is coming.

Hey, then you should share your experience with us on http://wiki.linux.org.hk/index.php/HowtomakeDebiansupport_chinese We really need more contributor on the OSWikiHK Project. You can fill the KDE port in english/simplifield chinese, and we will have some guy to translate them back to traditional chinese.

Personally, I seldom use KDE. And as I know, GTK+ got better support on UTF-8 and the support on Qt had already slow down. It might not affect mainland while most important chars of GB18030 are still in BMP (Double-byte). But for Hong Kong, ISO10646 is very important for an international city.

No. You can treat ISO10646 as the ISO version of Unicode. Basically, both ISO and Unicode Consortium work together on the same standard and release it in a different name only.

Also has anybody tried Vidalinux? It's a modified version of Gentoo.

ISO10646的第0群组第0字面（群八位和面八位的值都为00h）称为「基本多语文字面」（Basic Multi-lingual Plane, BMP），其编码字符与Unicode相同。BMP之外的32,767个字面区分为辅助字面（supplementary planes）和专用字面（private use planes）。辅助字面用以收容WG2陆续收集、整理和编码的各国语文字元；专用字面的内容WG2不予规定，保留供使用者自行添加ISO10646未收容的字符。
