Roy is one of the most active open source contributors in Hong Kong. He start to use GNU/Linux in 1994 and involved in several open-source projects. He joined HKLUG since it established on 1997 and start to organize and help several projects to promote GNU/Linux and open source, including news translation, experience share gathering, monthly seminar and writing many articles in local computer magazines. He was elected as vice-chairman of HKLUG in 1999 & 2000 and became chairman of HKLUG in 2001-2003 and 2005. Mr. Chan was recruited by several famous companies because of his expertise on GNU/Linux and open source and work in the Linux/Unix industrial for over 7 years. Roy is also the webmaster of DebianHK [1].
