searching for a speaker about red flag linux

Dear all,

My name is Anne Sedee, one of the organisers of a festival in The Netherlands and we are looking for someone who can give the audience the story about the development and use of Redflag Linux. I hope someone of this mailinglist could tell us that story or knows somebody who can.

We are in search for someone who can explain (in english) in one hour how the project started, the problems encountered and how they were overcome or anything else what might be important or interesting.

Some information about the festival you'll find below.

thanks a lot Anne Sedee

"What The Hack?" (WTH) is a large hacker's festival been organized (http://www.whatthehack.org). WTH is part of a interesting series of events held every four years in The Netherlands. The events are known as a great opportunity to meet others working on the same things. It started with "The Galactic Hacker Party", also known as the "International Conference on the Alternative use of Technology, Amsterdam". Since then the festival moved outdoors, and the next three editions were held on a large field. The last edition was visited by nearly 3000 people. Hackers enjoy exploring the details and capabilities of tech-systems or engage with technology on the basis of a do-it- yourself philosophy. Contrary to popular misconception hackers do not, by definition, break into systems.

The festival will be taking place between July 28th and 31th July, 2005 in a camp near Den Bosch, The Netherlands. Themes are computer insecurity, privacy, open software, open standards & software patents, freedom of speech, government transparency, community networking and independent media and networking in crisis areas and so called developing countries.

redflag

hm, you really mean the redflag that is distributed in mainland ? I can certainly spend one hour( or more ) to tell its story. Although I am not really an "insider", but I have been working in the opensource field and LINUX market in China for couple of years, and know redflag pretty well. Drop me a line.

Suggestion: Talk on Grid Computing on May 8, 2006

Hi there,

I will be in Hongkong on May 8, 2006 and would be able to give a talk on Grid Computing in the context of the largest European Union Grid initiative "EGEE" (see http://www.eu-egee.org). EGEE, together with the LHC Computing Grid, is now running a world-wilde Grid infrastructure of more than 30000 CPUs, all of which are running Linux. Let me know if this is of interest to you.

I have personnaly been involved in the Linux community since about 1992 have served in various positions at SuSE in the past.

Please contact me via ruediger.berlich@iwr.fzk.de , as I will not be reading the HKLUG mailing list.

In any case thanks, Ruediger Berlich
