Long-Time Linux x86 Maintainer H. Peter Anvin Joins Stealth Chip Startup Rosaic Labs
H. Peter Anvin, the long-time Linux x86 maintainer and co-author of the Syslinux bootloader family, has joined semiconductor startup Rosaic Labs, according to a report from Phoronix.
Little is publicly known about Rosaic Labs. The company has drawn attention after Intel reportedly granted it access to Atom technology, including RTL code. Separately, community observers have flagged unexplained additions to the x86 support in the Linux kernel tree that do not appear to originate from Intel, AMD, Zhaoxin, or Hygon. No connection between those changes and Rosaic Labs has been confirmed.
Rosaic Labs has not disclosed what it is building, and details on Anvin's role at the company have not been made public.
